V60 Pour-Over Coffee Brewing Guide
V60 Pour-Over Coffee Brewing Guide
Step-by-Step Brewing Guide:
Step 1: Rinse the V60 and Preheat the Mug Place the V60 on top of your coffee mug and insert the paper filter. Rinse the filter with hot water to remove any paper residue and preheat the mug. Discard the water.
Step 2: Add Coffee Grounds Measure the coffee grounds based on your preferred strength. A standard ratio is 1:15 (1 part coffee to 15 parts water). For example, if you use 20g of coffee, aim for 300g of water.
Step 3: The Bloom - Start your timer and pour hot water (about twice the weight of the coffee grounds) evenly over the coffee, ensuring all grounds are saturated. Allow it to bloom for 30 seconds as the coffee releases gases.
Step 4: Pouring - Continue pouring hot water in a slow, circular motion, starting from the centre and moving outward. Avoid pouring water directly onto the filter.
Maintain a steady pour until you reach the desired water weight.
Step 5: Brewing Time - The total brewing time, including the bloom, should be around 2-3 minutes. Adjust the grind size and pouring rate to control the extraction time based on your taste preferences.
Step 6: Serve and Enjoy - Once the coffee finishes dripping through the filter, remove the V60 and stir the coffee gently. Allow it to cool slightly before savouring the flavours of your freshly brewed cup.
Tips:
1. Experiment with Grind Size: Adjust the grind size to control the
extraction rate. Finer grind for a slower extraction, coarser for a faster
one.
2. Water Temperature: Keep the water temperature within the
recommended range for optimal extraction.
3. Pouring Technique: A slow, controlled pour helps evenly saturate
the coffee grounds, ensuring a balanced extraction.
4. Practice Patience: Mastering the V60 pour-over method takes
practice. Experiment with different variables to find your perfect cup.
Enjoy the process of brewing with the V60 pour-over method, and feel free
to adjust the parameters to suit your taste preferences!
